Frequently Asked Questions
Q:
I submitted my website to some or all of these search
engines and directories. Why am I not listed?

you are using a keyword / keyword phrase that is unique
to your site in order to verify inclusion.

can take at least 2-8 weeks to update their listings.
Check back later.

Q:
Why over the past few months has the keyword verifier
reduced from 30 to 12 search engines?
A: When we first
launched the verification tool, there many more good
search engines. Unfortunately, they keep disappearing,
or they lose their audience to some of the older engines.
Over the past few months, we have "cleaned house"
and removed some of the engines that were slow, unreliable,
out-of-business, not of high quality, or received
their results from the same source.
Removing some of these lower quality
engines recently, like Claymont.com, Northern Light,
and several others results in faster results for our
users.
It also saves bandwidth, as our user
base is growing at an incredible rate. The traffic
to and from these lower quality engines eats up a
good portion of our bandwidth which can have a negative
impact on our tools both in speed and quality of the
results.

Q:
I have run all of the available reports in a two week
period and am wondering how it is possible that our
keywords were showing they were placed during the
first report and not on the second report?
A: Keyword
Verification values constantly change due to the dynamic nature of the
Web. As such, the values reported by Websitetools4u for your site(s) are
collected live each time a request is made. To ensure the accuracy of
results, be sure to click through to the corresponding search engine.

Q:
I have recently resubmitted our site to the major
search engines, will this have caused a temporary
decrease in placement?
A: There are
several possibilities for the situation you described.
First, it is important to keep in mind that our Verification
tool only looks at the first 3 pages of search results
from each engine. Second, the engines are constantly
re-indexing, meaning that your placement may vary
from day to day, or even search to search. Your placement
may be on page 3 for one search, and page 4 for the
next.
Also, there is a lot of competition for placement
within the first 3 pages of results for popular terms
such as "baby shoes", "infant shoes",
and "toddler shoes", so your placement may
be fluctuating due to competing sites that are similar
to yours.
Our tool reports placement based on the results received
from the search engines. You would need to contact
the search engines directly for more specific reasons
as to why the search results may fluctuate.
